It’s in the Bag!
It’s in the Bag is the Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary Take Action Project.  This is a local effort, with girls leading their families, schools, and communities to improve the environment and protect our natural resources. GSACPC invites girls to take action to reduce plastic waste through the It’s in the Bag project! (Please note, the bag drop-off sites have changed! see below for details.)

Here is how you can get involved:

Registering for the project and reporting bag totals

To register your troop or individual Girl Scout for the project, click here. (Even if you already snail-mailed a registration form, please also register online.) If you are an IGM, type “IGM” into the troop number field, and if you are an adult volunteer, type “0” into the troop number field.

If you registered prior to October 7th, please take a moment to login and update your troop profile with the number of girl and adult participants (not names) and the contact information, including address, for the troop leader or project coordinator. We will be asking for the names and totals of each girl later in the project. Stay tuned for details!

After you register, click here to report your bag totals as you collect, and watch our counter grow! Please fill out all fields in the registration form.

Recognition for this project

For this project, there are two types of recognition: Troop recognition (girls will all receive participation patches) and individual recognition.

To ensure all girls receive participation patches, continue reporting bag totals online, and be sure to update your troop profile with your mailing address and number of girls.

If girls wish to keep track of their own bag totals, be sure to track this as you continue with the project.  Later, we will post on this page a roster which, when completed and submitted, will ensure each girl gets proper recognition for her individual totals.  Click here for more information about receiving recognition for participating in this project.

Bag drop-off sites

We have partnered with Bashas Family of Stores (which includes AJ’s Fine Foods, Food City and Bashas’). You can drop off your bags to any of these stores statewide.

Please visit the store locators for Bashas’AJ’s Fine Foods and Food City to find a store near you.

NOTE:  We are no longer partnered for Whole Foods Markets for this project.

Even if you don’t see a Girl Scouts sign at any of our partnering stores, your bags still count!  Simply drop off your bags in the stores’ regular recycling bins. Then be sure to register online, and report your bag totals online. If you are dropping off a large number of bags (or if your bags won't fit in the store's bin), let a store clerk or store director know.
