The Mother of the Modern Day Civil Rights Movement

Posted: Feb 16, 2012

This month, we are celebrating Black History Month at the Girl Scouts, and are reminded of the many influential women who have made a difference in our community, and who have blazed a trail for equality and human rights across our country.  It is these women who we look to for inspiration as we bridge into the next 100 years of Girl Scouting.

Rosa Parks is one such woman.

Click below Rosa's picture to read about her contribution to our country, and her visit to our own Camp Sombrero in 1992.

The girls had a blast meeting a lot of great TV personalities, and enjoyed an in-depth interview by a reporter from the Arizona Republic. Below is a photo of Troop 2292 with Fox 10 Arizona anchor, Kristin Anderson.

600 Girl Scouts attend 11th Annual Mmmmilk & Cookies Event

Posted: Feb 01, 2012

On Saturday, Jan. 28th, 600 Girl Scouts toured St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance to learn more about the need for emergency food boxes in our community at the 11th Annual Mmmmilk & Cookies event, co-hosted by Shamrock Farms.

The event celebrated our Cookie Sale and more specifically, the Gift of Caring program, which invites members of the community to purchase additional cookies to donate to St. Mary’s Food Bank for families and individuals in need.

At the end of the sale, Shamrock Farms will donate 10,000 school-sized cartons of milk for the first 10,000 packages of Girl Scouts cookies donated to St. Mary’s through this program.

Thanks to all the Girl Scouts who came out for this awesome event!
